Dirt bikes which are also known as the trails bikes, are not meant for the road but instead they are very lightweight motorcycles specially designed for the uneven or rough path of riding cross country. The tires of such bikes are rugged and are also equipped with suspension as these bikes are mainly used in the terrain regions. The power of the engine is less than normal bikes, usually less than 500 cc.
There is a lot of variety dirt bikes. Some of the most recognizes brands of dirt bikes are Suzuki, Honda, and Yamaha etc. Since many of these bikes are specially meant for the tracks, rough area, and for competitions like Motocross, these bikes are manufactured so that they are light and have maximum grip with knobby tires.
Classification of the engines of dirt bikes can be categorized in 2 types- one is 2 stroke and other is 4 stoke. First one is used for the ignition of the gas and the oil as a mixture in the cylinder and hence the bike gets powered up and hence has more lubricated engine. The other is crude version of the car engine.

Being a twenty four hour city, a visitor may find that seven days in New York just isn’t enough time to take in everything it has to offer. Of course the first port of call should really be the Empire State Building, especially a trip to the eighty sixth floor. Of course, many people prefer the view form the Rockefeller Center which is a little higher, but it can be difficult to see anything when there is bad weather. The Statue of Liberty is best seen from a tour boat although these can be extremely busy and since 9/11, the delays can be long so it is best to go ashore at Ellis Island; which is the former immigration center but is also fascinating.
Thankfully, the Staten Island ferry is free and provides some great views of the Lower Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty; the island is also worth a look and the terminal is a favorite spot for street performers, some are of a professional standard. Of course almost everyone who spends seven days in New York City will, at some pint, make their way to the site of where the Twin Towers once stood. The area where they stood is surprisingly large plus the emptiness feels strange and if you like taking photographs, you may be disappointed here because it just doesn’t feel right. World famous stores are plentiful in New York with names like Tiffany’s to the many discount stores along Broadway.
Then there is Maceys, where there is always a sale so don’t forget to get your 11 per cent tourist discount card; and you can look but don’t touch at Bloomingdales. Unfortunately, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum will be closed until late 2008; this attraction is highly recommended and worth putting on your list of places to visit. There is a great deal there with the focus on the USS Intrepid, a Second World War aircraft carrier but Concorde is also there and many other interesting vessels, including a submarine. If you have the time the New York City Police Museum is also worth a look and although it’s free to enter, a five dollar donation per visitor is advised; many TV viewers have grown up with the cop shows set in New York and a large amount of memorabilia is housed here.
After that why not visit the Lower East Side Tenement Museum as it’s a time capsule of migrant New York built in 1864 and was a grim home for waves of immigrants; it’s what made America great (and appalling for a time). On Central Park is the fascinating Museum of the City of New York with millions of objects for researchers but for tourists, an ever-changing program of exhibitions showing the past, present and future of the Big Apple. The venue is also free but relies on donations and souvenirs to survive; generally visitors provide a donation of approximately 9 dollars. There is so much to see that it will be difficult fitting everything in on a seven day trip to New York and you will have to return some other time!

To make travel more enjoyable and less stressful (owing to how often things go wrong) it is often a good idea to re-iterate a few simple rules that can help prevent disaster. Problems that could leave you with bad memories and a dislike of the local people, and maybe having to replace lost items; it could cost you lots of money and end up ruining your holiday. Other circumstances could mean that you will have to take time out from your vacation to have the Police deal with your complaints. Any advice you receive from authorities will always tell you to use your common sense if you want to travel safely especially when you are in a situation or circumstances that are different which is particularly true on holiday.
Trust your instincts if something doesn’t feel right, do something about it. When you go out to discover new places, bars and restaurants, think about what you are taking with you; are all your credit cards, passport and airline tickets for example necessary where you are going? Expensive and necessary items like identification tickets for example should be left at the hotel in their safe or the room safe if you have one; it is much easier to recover your vacation if you only lose a few important belongings instead of all of them. If you place your cash, traveler’s checks and credit cards in various locations about your person, then there is less likelihood of pickpockets stealing all your financial assets and leaving you with nothing.
As an added measure when using travel safely methods, carry credit cards from different accounts; should one be lost or stolen there is a second to fall back on. Some people just make it easy for snatch thieves who specialize in grabbing bags and cameras from unsuspecting tourists who have them hanging from their shoulder; to prevent this make sure the strap is over the head as well. Don’t make it easy for them when you walk around by having bags and other valuable objects attached to straps next to the road where it is a simple matter for thieves on bikes to just grab at or cut the straps with a knife. The reason most people fall for these tricks is because we are more relaxed on vacation and the people that carry out these crimes are very good at it.
Complacency is a dangerous trait and we have all been guilty of it when we are on vacation, remember this is what they do every day to make money and feed their families. For instance, when carrying small bags (rucksacks for example), it is not a difficult job to place a small combination lock on it to put thieves off; remember they are always looking for the easy victim! Some people are always losing their keys which isn’t a good idea when you are on vacation so a quick remedy is to buy a D-shackle or similar and attach it your belt or backpack with the keys attached. A word of warning to those men that always have their wallet in a back pocket; try putting it somewhere else as this is the first place that criminals look and it is an easy target for them. The only reason these types of events happen on vacation is most people are not traveling safely so by maintaining your guard, many awkward situations can be avoidable.
